EXPRESSIVE ARTS FOR
HEALTH & HEALING
Wise Mind Healing Arts is a growing collective of Artists and Expressive Arts Therapists using creativity and the healing power of the arts to restore wellness, create connection, facilitate healing, and deepen joy. We are so happy you are here!
Wise Mind Healing Arts now offers public workshops, as well as ongoing community-based programs for health centers, schools, senior living facilities, and other community organizations. These workshops combine expressive arts (visual art, writing, music, movement, story, etc.) with therapeutic approaches that are integrative, and trauma-informed. Utilizing somatosensory (body/sensing) approaches, mindfulness-based practices, and expressive arts interventions, these sessions help participants to heal emotional wounds, improve mood, deepen self-awareness, improve relationships, and empower participants to harness the healing power of the arts for themselves. Visual arts, music, poetry, sound/rhythm, movement, storytelling, and other art forms are gently explored at the comfort and safety of participants. No previous arts experience is necessary, and client creative interests and disinterests are honored and respected.
Private Expressive Arts Sessions are a partnership between the Facilitator and the Client, using creativity and a compassionate self-inquiry process to facilitate wellness, personal growth, trauma recovery, improved mood, stress reduction, and self-discovery. These sessions help clients to deepen self awareness using somatosensory approaches (body/sensing), mindfulness-based practices, arts-based exploration, and intention-setting. Visual arts, music, poetry, sound/rhythm, movement, storytelling, and other expressive art forms are tools that can be gently explored at the comfort and safety each client. No previous arts experience is necessary. Client creative interests and disinterests are honored and respected.
Wise Mind Healing Arts offers private expressive arts workshops for small groups, women's gatherings, corporate events, and private parties. These workshops integrate the use of visual artmaking, music/sound, rhythm/movement, writing/story, sensory awareness, and mindfulness-based approaches to encourage connection, bring playfulness and joy, and expand self-awareness. No prior arts experience is necessary. If you would like to request a workshop for your group or your organization, please send an inquiry on the Contact page and we will reach out to you. Thank you for your interest!

In 2019 the World Health Organization/Europe released a detailed report on the importance of the arts in health and wellbeing. "This report found evidence from a wide variety of disciplinary approaches and methodologies for the potential value of the arts in contributing to core determinants of health; playing a critical role in health promotion; helping to prevent the onset of mental illness and age-related physical decline; supporting the treatment or management of mental illness, noncommunicable diseases and neurological disorders; and assisting in acute and end-of-life care."*
With this in mind, Wise Mind Healing Arts aims to create Arts in Health and Arts for Wellness initiatives to meet the growing need for wellness, restorative healing, supportive communities, and collective & personal growth.
